This offering from Colombia is the result of a special project meant to highlight the unique characteristics of small lots in the Huila region. These characteristics come through as a distinct, tangy berry flavor that is rounded out by the rich, chocolatey, classic Colombian character.
We enjoy this coffee in a variety of brewing methods, but it really shines in a French Press. An Aeropress or pourover method will bring out more of the herbal, tangy notes.
From the importer, Samaria Coffee:
This coffee comes from Bruselas, the largest district of Colombia. Known as the coffee heart of the Huila region, located in the southwest of Colombia in the Andean region, the coffee produced in this zone is some of the most recognized regional coffee in Colombia for its consistency and floral/delicate notes in the cup year-round. We currently are working with family groups of small coffee producers, and through cupping sessions we search for excellent coffees with a clean and characteristic cup profile of the region. At the moment we are working with 33 families in total with an average of 4 hectares per farm, for an annual production of 20,000 kilos of parchment per year.
